Overview
Micro-sieve drum filter is a solid-liquid separation equipment widely used in sewage treatment, industrial wastewater treatment and aquaculture. Its core component is a horizontally mounted cylindrical drum covered with filter screens with specific apertures. When working, the liquid to be treated enters from one end of the drum, the liquid flows out through the filter screen aperture, and the solid suspended matter is trapped on the filter screen to form filter residue. As the drum rotates, the filter residue is transported to the discharge end and removed by the backwash system.
Features
High Efficiency Filtration
The microsieve drum filter uses a high-precision filter with a pore size usually ranging from 40 microns to 200 microns, which can effectively remove suspended particles in the water body. The turbidity of the treated water body can be reduced to 3~5 NTU (turbidity unit). The suspended solids removal rate is as high as 95%, which is more than 30% higher than the traditional sedimentation tank. This makes it particularly effective in scenarios where high water quality standards are required, such as drinking water purification and industrial water treatment.
Save Water
The microsieve drum filter is equipped with a backwash device to clean the filter screen in real time during the working process to avoid clogging. The backwash water volume per hour only accounts for 0.6% to 1% of the treated water volume, significantly reducing water waste. For example, a microsieve drum filter with a processing capacity of 100 cubic meters per hour saves about 1.2 tons of water per day, which is more than 40% lower than manual cleaning equipment.
Durability
The main components of the micro-sieve drum filter, such as the filter screen and drum, are made of 316L stainless steel with a tensile strength of up to 515 MPa and can withstand more than 500 high-pressure backwash operations without deformation. Moreover, 316L stainless steel has strong corrosion resistance. In a seawater environment with a salt content of 35‰, the corrosion rate is less than 0.01 mm/year, which is much lower than the 0.05 mm/year of ordinary stainless steel. These factors enable its service life to be more than 15 years, far exceeding the 5 to 8 years of traditional filters.
Small Footprint
A single microsieve drum filter occupies an area of less than 4 square meters. Compared with traditional systems that require a large sedimentation tank, it can save up to 60% of the floor space. For small and medium-sized sewage treatment plants with a daily treatment capacity of 10,000 cubic meters, the use of microsieve drum filters can reduce infrastructure construction costs by nearly one million yuan.
Structure Diagram

The untreated wastewater enters the microscreen drum filter through the water inlet. Upon detecting the liquid level, the sensor triggers the drive system to set the filter drum in motion and activates the backwash pump. As the raw sewage passes through a high-strength stainless steel filter under gravity or pressure differential, solid suspended matter is captured within. The backwash pump then propels the filtered effluent and disperses a high-pressure umbrella-shaped water column via nozzles positioned on top of the filter drum. This process cleanses accumulated solid suspended solids from inside out, directing them downwards. Fine particulate matter is gathered by a flushing water collection tank within the filter drum and discharged through sewage pipes when there's no flow through equipment, which will automatically halt.
